Diem Chau is an artist who is best known for her intricate and detailed crayon carvings. Inspired by folk art and wood carvings from the Depression Era, Diem chose crayons as her medium for their fragility and reminder of childhood. Here she has carved the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac.

Kelly Reemtsen has the keen ability to capture modernity and also memories of time past through her depiction of what would seem like 50s housewives with their favorite household tools. Her imagery leaves the viewer unsure whether they’re captured from moments of the past or of the present.

Christina Ricci looked stunning in this scrumptious custom couture Zac Posen. The dramatic black gown captured the spirit of McQueen, who was being honored. She was one of the few who did and I applaud her for it.

Vogue honors Alexander McQueen

Despite the relatively short career of the now deceased prodigy courtier, Alexander McQueen, there is still so much to adore and admire.

The Vogue editorial releases in conjunction with the Costume Institute’s retrospective on the designer, entitled, quite perfectly, “Savage Beauty,” which will be kicked off at the Met Gala on May 4.

Viktor Hertz combines graphic design and film, into a clever series of movie posters. To him, this set became Hertz’s “form of expression,” a way to stretch his creativity and imagination.

“I’ve always been fascinated and a bit obsessed by pictograms, with the way they are as simple as possible,” he tells us. “A classmate called me a ‘pictophile’ the other day. I can only agree. I made a few Kubrick posters some time ago, using pictograms, so that’s where it all started. Now I wanted to be consistent, and do a series of posters using the same grid and style, making them work together as a whole.

“I try to bring a twist to it, and not get too simple. I want to be unpredictable and entertaining, and make something that communicates the film instantly, yet in an original way.”

I think i may have written about swings inside homes a couple times in the past. I just love them. I guess it’s because it brings a bit of the outdoors indoors. It also brings a little bit of fun into a sometimes dreary world. None the less, i think everyone should have a swing indoors.

Many of my friends will tell you how much i LOVE trilogies. I can just sit there for hours upon hours with a bowl of popcorn, wine, wool blanket and good company. One of my favorites is the extended version of Lord of the Rings Trilogy. So you can imagine my utter joy, when i found these 3 plushies. So adorable. I especially love Legolas.

With Fashion Week upon us, i can’t help but think of the one designer i will forever miss more than any others – Lee Alexander McQueen. I thought i would pull together some of my favorite images from McQueen. As you can see, he had unbridled creativity and was wildly talented.
